When measuring the size, it is important to calculate extra space to seal the package. It is recommended that the packs are filled no more than 3/4 of the length, and that there should be at least 2 cm of empty space around each packed item. If possible, packs should be placed upright in the steriliser, using dividers if necessary. If it is not possible to place the packs upright, they can be placed flat with the porous material facing downwards. The packs should not be folded and they must not touch the chamber walls. The basket should not be packed too full, as the packs expand during the sterilisation process and they must also be allowed to breathe freely. If a sterilisation cycle needs to be repeated due to a malfunction or a cycle is interrupted before completion, the products must be repacked before being placed in a new sterilisation cycle. Autoclave bags and autoclave rolls are intended for single use only.
